  1. One of my Point of Sale customers made the mistake of clicking OK to updating from Windows 8.1 to 10. We use Okidata dot matrix printers with a GENERIC / TEXT ONLY driver. The printer is loaded with multi-part forms and requires a signature from the customer on the copies.
So, the printer died because Win 10 changed the driver to the Okidata driver and that would not let anything print (tried a simple 10 line Notepad > print ) and it failed. Had to physically move the printer to another Win 8 PC on the network and delete all the old and add new shared printer.

So why does Microsoft mess with the Generic / Text only driver?
What do I do when other clients call me when they get trapped in the Win 10 upgrade?
